Frequently Asked Questions
Why bison tallow over beef tallow?
When it comes to skincare, not all tallow is created equal. While both beef and bison tallow have nourishing properties, bison tallow stands in a class of its own. It's lighter, richer and more refined. That's why we use it as our hero ingredient.
1. Lighter, Faster Absorbing Texture:
Bison tallow has finer, lighter structure than beef tallow. It soaks into the skin more quickly without leaving a heavy or greasy residue.
2. Richer in Omega-3s:
Bison tallow contains higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids and linoleic acid compared to beef. These powerful lipids calm inflammation and support youthful, resilient skin.
3. Nutrient Dense:
Bison tallow is packed with vitamins A, D, E and K in forms the skin can easily absorb, helping repair the skin barrier, smooth fine lines, and restore elasticity.
4. Heritage Rich:
Unlike most beef, bison are still raised in ways closer to how nature intended - roaming open prairies and grazing on natural grasses. Choosing bison tallow honors a wilder, more sustainable source that connects us back to heritage living.
Is it safe for sensitive skin?
Yes. Bison tallow is hypoallergenic, non-irritating, and free of chemicals, fragrances and fillers.
Our bison tallow is safe for all skin types. It's gentle enough to soothe soft baby skin, and powerful enough to restore weathered working hands.
Is it greasy?
Our bison tallow balms are formulated to melt into your skin, not sit on top. Our tallow absorbs quickly, leaving skin soft, supple and hydrated without a greasy residue.
Does it smell like meat?
Not at all. Properly rendered, our grass-fed bison tallow is odorless and silky. Our formulas are lightly scented only with pure essential oils (or unscented, if preferred) providing you with a luxurious, natural balm.
How long does one jar last?
A little of our bison tallow goes a long way - most customers find a jar will last 2-3 months with daily use.
How do I use it?
Scoop out a pea-sized amount, warm between fingers, and massage gently into skin.
Use as a daily moisturizer, overnight balm, or spot treatment on dry or irritated patches.
